Cumbrian broker first to achieve new finance qualification
7th July 2016
Samantha Gargett, Director at finance brokers Elton Finance, has become the region’s first student to obtain a leading automotive finance qualification.
Samantha who lives in Armathwaite Near Carlisle, was one of the first cohort of students from across the UK to successfully complete ifs University College’s Certificate for Automotive Finance Specialists (CertAutoFS).
Launched in 2014 with the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA), the qualification is designed to support the growth of the automotive finance industry by providing customer-facing staff in motor dealerships with a firm grasp of the industry and the regulatory landscape in which it operates.
On completing CertAutoFS, Samantha said: “This is an excellent qualification that equips you with the required regulatory knowledge and ensures customers are treated fairly. I would definitely encourage anybody working within this industry to consider undertaking this qualification.”
Martin Day, Vice Principal (Corporate & Professional Qualifications), at ifs University College, said: “Since its launch CertAutoFS has already generated a lot of interest among motor dealerships and finance professionals, which in the long run will benefit the thousands of consumers who make use of its services each year. For many, buying a car represents the biggest financial commitment they will make after a mortgage, so it is vital that professionals like Samantha have the skills to support them. “Our warmest congratulations go to Samantha, who, as one of the first students to complete the qualification is now well-placed to serve her customers to the highest standard and act as a shining example to other professionals in the region.”
